Family Coaching Consultations
Coaching consultations are run in person, via phone call, or virtual meet up. They are well-suited for the following topics:
- Language enrichment
- Introductory support for implementing Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)
- Language enrichment

*** Parent coaching consultation sessions will not include the child as this may be misconstrued as a formal treatment session. Coaching consultations are meant for parent(s) to consult with a speech-language pathologist to gather valuable information about how to incorporate strategies into routines and play. Additionally, coaching consultations are not the same as speech therapy. If a speech-language evaluation and/or therapy sessions have been recommended, we encourage you take this step towards your child's communication needs. Language Enrichment: Learn how to provide a language rich environment for your little one. We will discuss your current challenges, your personal goals, and next steps. During our consultation, you will be guided how to set up the environment and how to respond to encourage language. Additionally, we will discuss play and how to improve on how you currently play with your child to maximize language opportunities.
AAC: Did your child recently receive an AAC device or have had one for a while, but need support? If you find yourself getting frustrated with understand how to best implement AAC with your child and need introductory guidance, then this is the place to be. If you have just started using AAC with your child but want continued support in how to navigate this new communication support, I can help with that too!
This is appropriate for family members and professionals wanting to learn more about AAC and how to support their children and/or clients/students.
*Note there may be restrictions in my support level if you are unable to edit the device or if it is locked. Additionally, depending on how the device was supplied to you, I may have editing restrictions. You are responsible for bringing the device to each consulation session, charged.

Imagine learning how to embed strategies as you go about your day - no need for setting time aside for 'homework' or workbooks. Your daily routines and play are the ideal settings for language. You are with your child for several hours a day making you the perfect resource. Families who sign up for coaching consultations will select a date for an appointment. These appointments are just for you - no other families will be joining. A short inquiry form will be sent prior to each session to maximize our time during the coaching consultation. This is our time to explore opportunities in your unique lives and routines where language can flourish. We can uncover various language opportunities and how they can be implemented with different family members and activities. I will provide strategies you can start using immediately!
